Unofficial Greetings From

 

Howdy, everyone! and just like that, three months have passed since my last post. It was a very busy summer and I got caught up in relaxing, spending some time with family, and celebrating my birthday. There was also a lot going on this summer as well, with social injustices coming to light, and it made other people, those who do not see these issues,  uncomfortable, which to me is a good thing since progress can then be made. 

Attached is a card made by a former friend, who I lost over an argument of social injustice, what is right and what is wrong. It was their decision though to cut ties, and to be honest if they aren't willing to grow and learn, then it's not worth spending energy to educate them, and to tell them the BIPOC should not be treated like shit, and why a movement like BLM exists. It's a shame really, because she was a good digital artist. Maybe she should've spent her energy there instead of trying to justify a person attacking others to protect property- property that wasn't even theirs. 

Anyway, it's also been an emotional few months. School is in session and I also worry about the risks when going back to in person. But that is an entry for another day.

Hawaii, the 50th state is probably the most exotic state the US has. I realized I didn't have any postmarked from there! Hopefully I can visit some day. Thanks, Trisha!

Mysterious Postcard

Hello!

Last Saturday (March 22) I received a message through the official postcrossing site from someone in Wisconsin. She asked for my address and I told her about my life in Wisconsin. She is actually near Appleton/Green Bay, so I am familiar with the area. I received this card from her yesterday (March 25) in the mail:

I don't know how she found me, and I don't know what made her send me a card without providing me an address to send her one as well, but it is great that people around the world can take 5 minutes of their time and think of just you.

My only favorite part of the weekend ending is that I get to check my mailbox on Monday for new cards! Any day with postcards or letters is a great day.

This is a wonderful 3D card sent from my friend Chelle in The Netherlands. She adopted a friend of mine, Katie, in the US and they actually met through postcrossing! Since I met Katie through postcrossing, I also met Chelle when she came to visit about a year ago. This is from a national park near her home in Tilburg. She heard I liked these types of cards, so she sent me one for my collection.

 I also got a card from a swap I did in the postcrossing forum. Her name is Mik and seems like an interesting gal. She was looking for pre-columbian cats, so I sent her one from a postcard book I bought at a local shop called Texas Art Asylum.
