Patience is a learned virtue through snail mail...postcard from Brazil

Today I finally got a postcard I've been waiting from Brazil for a long time. There was a postal worker strike about a month ago, so it affected the mail system in Brazil for a while. The postcard is even postmarked March 14th, 2014! I am just glad it eventually got to me. Now I am waiting another card from the same person. Thanks, Silvia!

Lottery winning from Germany!

I love entering lotteries because usually a beautiful card is given as a prize. I won a lottery in the postcrossing forum and was lucky to get a lighthouse card with a matching stamp! What a great addition to my collection.

Tikal temple card from Guatemala

I received a card from a friend in Guatemala who was kind enough to send me another card! Thanks Ale!

According to Wikipedia, Tikal is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centres of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization.

Postcard from Vietnam

After searching and looking, I finally found a swapper from Vietnam! He is an architect and
has only been collecting a few months, but has an impressive collection. Thanks for the card, Mu Chu!

First cards from Moldova

So I completely missed posting the first cards I got from Moldova! So here they are. They were sent to me by Anastasia, who is an economist by trade but took some time off to take care of her new daughter. Thanks for the lovely cards!

What I noticed is that these cards are Postcrossing ready! How cool is that?

Postcard sent from Canada via an app

Hello all!

There are sites out there that allow you to download an app and send postcards from pictures you have taken. I received such a card from a user in Canada. Here, she shows me her cat. She tells me that her cat reminds her of the one in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's"- and he looks like my cat Milo!

Air control tower postcard from Bahrain

Hello all!

So my collection continues to grow! I received a card from Bahrain from Jamie. She has recently moved there. The card she sent me is of the air control tower at the Bahrain airport, and her dad designed it! She said she was very surprised to see it at the postcard shop. Thanks, Jamie!

Card from United Arab Emirates!

I have been planning on traveling to UAE next year, so I thought that postcrossing would be a great opportunity to find people so that I get more insight on life there. I virtually met an American expat named Patricia. She has been giving me her insight on how life is and what it's like to be an American in UAE. I would say UAE has a faster post service, since the card she sent me got to me in about 10 days. Thanks again Patricia, and hopefully I can meet you when I make it there!

Cool Card from Saudi Arabia

Hi everyone!

I am truly sorry to have been absent! Things got busy before and after the meetup. I also had a stack of postcards go missing after the meetup! It is a strange case, but I hope I get reunited with them soon!

Anyway, in my absence I got many new cool postcards! In the bunch has been a long-awaited one from Saudi Arabia. I sent Bryan from Saudi Arabia some quarters in exchange for a card. After about a month of travel, it finally reached me this week. This is a great addition to my start up collection of countries in the Middle East!

Card from Mauritius!

I was lucky enough to get a card from beautiful Mauritius! Looks like a beautiful place to visit, and i'll have to go whenever I turn into a globetrotter.

Also, apologies for not posting anything yesterday...I actually got a lot of cards including a 3D one I was waiting from Switzerland! I will catch up this weekend!

Dominican Republic card

Today I got my first card from the Dominican Republic! It was great that it arrived today. It was a slow mail day, so this was the only postcard to make its way to me. This is from a film festival that took place in Santo Domingo. Thanks, Idrialis!

Aloha from Hawaii

Hawaii, the 50th state is probably the most exotic state the US has. I realized I didn't have any postmarked from there! Hopefully I can visit some day. Thanks, Trisha!

Comical cards from Russia

Once in a while, I run into cards that are just too funny and I have to have. My two favorite subjects: Grumpy Cat and Shin Chan are cards I needed to have in my collection so here they are, from Russia.

Another card from Moldova!

What great luck! I didn't have any cards from Moldova in my collection, and now I have 3! This time, this card came from Jerry. He is studying linguistics at his university and is originally from Ukraine. Thanks, Jerry!

Cards from Ireland!

Yesterday I got my first cards from Ireland! They are very lovely and the sender put some nice stamps on the cards. I liked two cards, so I had them both stamped! Glad I decided to do it, since I don't have any postmarked cards from Ireland. Thanks, Wendy!

Handstitched postcard from Germany!

Hello!

Mondays are a drag to get through, but thankfully postcards can save the day!

Today I received 7 bundles/cards, including an official one from postcrossing. But I want to make the first post about a very special card. This was a handmade card, the border is hand stitched and the paper looks very cool!

Thank you so much, Ramona! I can feel the love that was put into the card.

Meetup card from Indonesia

Happy Rainy Sunday!

I also got this beautiful meetup card from Indonesia. It blows me away how creative some people are! I have created my card, so I will be publishing what it looks like a little over a week from now!

First official 3D card through Postcrossing, from The Netherlands

I recently asked for 3D cards on my postcrossing profile, and I finally got one!

Great message of peace. Thank you for the lovely card, "Greetzzzzz"!

Singapore meetup card

I also received a meetup card from Singapore, but it was just from one of the people that went, which is still nice.
It looks like one of the members drew up the card, and it's so creative! I am glad to add this to my collection.

Munich Meetup card

I got my first meetup card (other than the ones I've been to) from Munich!
Thank you Tina! It looks like you had a lovely time there.

Romanian parliament

I am continuing to post about my postcards I got on Friday, and I am almost caught up!

I received a postcard of the Romanian parliament in Bucharest:

It took a while to get to me, but I am glad it did! Alexa writes that she is in medical school and she just finished with her exams. Best of luck in your studies!

Switzerland

I have gotten a few cards through the official postcrossing site from Switzerland, but not much effort was put into them and I don't really feel the love behind them. I swapped for these lovely cards from Switzerland.
I love map cards, so this was a great addition to my collection. I also have a 3D card on the way, so hopefully I get it soon!

Today's loot and political climate card from Ukraine

Happy Friday, everyone!

Looks to be a good day for mail! Today I got 6 postcards and a $25 gift card from a sweepstakes I won a few months ago. Pretty exciting day!
from left to right: Ukraine, Singapore meetup card, Munich, Germany meet up card, Swiss map card, Swiss funny alp card, and one from Romania finally arrived.

Included in the loot, I got a card from Ukraine that describes their current political climate with Russia. Russian forces took over a Ukrainian territory called Crimea and it put a lot of tension on both countries. I typically do not like "keep calm...." cards, but I made this exception and had to add this to my collection. Happy weekend!
